Matt Wright is a guitarist, educator, and neuroscience-driven technique specialist known for helping players break through speed barriers with efficient, tension-free playing.
After earning a degree in Music Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Matt turned his attention to guitar, combining his conservatory training with an obsession for the science of skill acquisition. His research into neuroscience, psychology, and biomechanics led to the development of Perfect Picking, a system that has helped over 400 guitarists dramatically increase their speed while reducing pain and unnecessary tension.
Through his YouTube channel, which has grown to over 20,000 subscribers and more than one million views, Matt has become known for his in-depth, evidence-based approach to guitar technique. His work has earned recognition from professionals in neuroscience, psychology, and biomechanics, and continues to challenge conventional ideas about motor learning and guitar instruction.
Matt currently serves as lead guitarist for Christopher Shayne, performing with a band that has shared the stage with artists including Fuel, ZZ Top, Godsmack, and Molly Hatchet.
